Description

The Chief of Us (Turfan) surrenders with his city in 1759, the Tartars presenting tributes. One of a rare series of sixteen views, engraved for Qianlong in France under the supervision of C.N. Cochin, celebrating the emperor's victory over the muslims of Eastern Turkestan (Xingiang). This view records the surrender of Huo Jisi of Turfan in 1758. Large showpiece.

From a drawing by Jesuit Jean Damascene, to commemorate the Emperor Qianlong's victory in Central Asia 1755-59. Unobtainable and important view. Of exceptional importance and rarity.
